As many of you know, I'm a lifetime runner. But for the next four months, I'm not just running for my sanity - I am running the Tucson Marathon Dec. 11, 2011 to fight brain tumors in support of my sister, Jen Searle. A wife and working mother of three young boys, Jen was diagnosed with a primary tumor in 2007, and was diagnosed with a second tumor just a few months ago.

Jen's diagnosis has affected us all. She is an exceptionally strong person who has made us truly stop and appreciate all that we have been given - especially our families and our health.

After a nationwide search to find the best doctors and treatment plan to blast her tumors once and for all, Jen has chosen UCLA Medical Center and will be receiving chemotherapy there.

Consider these startling facts* about brain tumors:

- An estimated 64,530 new cases of primary brain tumors are expected to be diagnosed in 2011;

- Brain tumors are the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children under age 20;

- They are the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in males ages 20-39; and

- They are the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths in females ages 20–39.

I humbly ask you to support me in my fight for a cure by making a donation that will help fund brain tumor research, including a vaccine trial. Funds are also used to increase awareness and provide patient support, including travel assistance. Please visit http://www.MilesForHope.org for information.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. Any contribution at all is greatly appreciated.

In the meantime, you can follow Jen's progress on her blog at http://goawaybob.com ("Bob" is the name of her primary tumor). You can also follow my fundraising and marathon training progress on my blog, http://www.suzannesearlephotography.com as well as on Facebook.

UPDATE 8/22/11: Wow - I'm blown away by all the support I've received already! You guys rock! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
